Answers to Questions
1. What settings should be taking care when enables video recording?
 

The following settings in the Preference dialog box should be noticed before enabling video recording.

1. Make sure the free space of hard disk specified in the setting "Record storage" is enough.
2. Select the option "Recycle storage" to let system remove older video recordings automatically for storing new video recordings.
3. Select the right recording mode for your application. Event recording is good for recording intrusion events.
4. Use the default video and audio compression method unless you computer has a better efficient video/audio codec installed.
5. Select the option 'Record audio" if you like to record video and audio data together.
   
2. My computer is firewall protected. How many TCP ports should be open for remote watching?
 

There are two default TCP ports, 80 and 81 are used for web server and video server. You can change the TCP port number according to your application. After you change the default TCP port number, please be sure to enter the right TCP port number when you create a connection for remote watching.

   
3. What kind of PC camera should I use if the environment under monitoring may have a period in low lighting condition?
  If the environment under monitoring may be in low lighting condition, a PC camera with CCD sensor is suggested.
   
4. My office computer is in a LAN with a local IP address, like 192.168.0.10. How can I watch the camera video of office computer remotely when I am out of office?
  Consult your office IT personnel to forward the TCP ports 80 of your office computer to a global IP address. You can then connect to the camera of office computer remotely by the global IP address and TCP port 80. Using another TCP port number is also OK.

Can SecuExpress Remote notify me when it receives a motion event?
 

There are two ways for SecuExpress Remote to notify you when it receives a motion event. They are sounding an alarm and show up program. You can enable the notification from the Preference settings.

   
6. In Windows XP SP2 environment, the remote camera video watching function does not work.
 

Windows XP Service Pack 2 enables Windows firewall by default and blocks most of malicious Internet connections. Please follow below steps to unblock Internet connections required by SecuExpress Watcher for supporting remote camera video watching.

Step 1: Run SecuExpress Wathcher program.
Step 2: Windows system displays "Windows Security Alert" dialog box two times. The first time the name in the dialog box is "VideoServer". The second time is "SecuWatcher". Click "Unblock" button to close these dialog boxes.
Step 3: When you change the TCP port number of Video Server or built-in Web Server, the "Windows Security Alert" dialog box displays again, click "Unblock" button to close the dialog box.
